CONCEPT
Each semester, every member of Design Streak creates a new design that encompasses the group's values and personality. For this semester, I chose to express the new group of designers with Hollyhock flowers. The Hollyhock represents both ambition and the ability to produce new ideas. Even out of the most nutrient deprived soil, the Hollyhock shows how ambitious and determined it is to reach the sun by growing up to 12 ft. tall. Design Streak strives to help others each day through designing meaningful and inclusive pieces, showing that we have the same ambition to not only improve ourselves as designers, but to make a difference in our community. On each stalk, many Hollyhock flowers grow, but it proves to be even more beautiful with almost 60 different variations of the species. The color variations of each flower embody a member’s individual talents and unique qualities, while the strong stalk emphasizes the great potential we have to grow as a single unit. Every Hollyhock flower produces a multitude of seeds, allowing them to thrive and flourish in the years to come. Similarly, each member of Design Streak possesses creativity and the ability to produce new ideas so that we are able to flourish in both the community and School of Art.
