DO THEY STILL LOVE ME?
2018 | Poster

CONCEPT
Within my poster, I wanted to visualize the insecurities I have had within my role as a big sister to my six younger siblings. The illustrations on the poster are from the day they were born. To allow the viewers to be able to put themselves in my place, I chose not to illustrate my face, and only those of my siblings. Each color represents the different personalities of my siblings. The hand written type represents my insecurities, allowing it to be the most personal aspect of the poster. Once I begin to dwell on past situations, each question or phrase begins to pop in my head one after the other, which is shown through the continuation of the dots. The phrase "You Are Not Their Mother" reminds me of the times when I tried to be in control of them, but now realize I should have stepped back. I would describe myself as very motherly, but when I was younger my perception of a parent was very different than it is now. The words overlaying this phrase are constantly in my head, reminding me of what other's have called me in the past and what they might still think of me. I have carried these emotions with me throughout the past few years, and this poster allowed me to release my energy and create a space where it can live.
